Daytime vs. Night Time
Tradition dictates that we investigate during hours of darkness, but why is this? Whats the reason?
Kind Regards

I suppose places are quieter, less chance of disruption, atmosphere changes when he sun goes apparently allowing spiritual energy to flow better? Plus the psychological aspect of ghosts and monsters coming out at night. Dark being bad and light being good.

I often wonder if this approach has a lot to do with the gothic horror stories that our victorian ancestors were so fond of.
I started thinking about this one a couple of years ago when I noticed that, contrary to popular culture, most of the reports I were getting actually referred to daylight observations rather that the night time reports that most would associate with hauntings.
Have you noticed anything similar with your own research?
Kind Regards
Baruc.

Personally speaking I prefer the night because of the psychology it adds to the mix. However, I've been places through the day and had the exact same feelings of being followed, watched or just a change in atmosphere. So perhaps the time of day is irrelevant - it's just more fun at night!

I think that activity can be picked up day, or night. I have photographed anomalies during the day;as well as, at night. I think why it is preferred at night time, is there are less distractions.
You can still pick up things during the day. I have shown the original photo where you can clearly see an 'r' has been written in the mirror, which by the way was clean, as I cleaned it, before it got hung up. In the second photo I was able to enhance and make out the word 'rise'. I think the corresponding word following was 'grand girl'.
First let me give you a bit of history on the mirror. We inherited it from a friend, who recently passed away. He was 79. We knew it once belonged to his mother, whose parents brought him up. We have photos of the family in the early 1900's, although-I didn't bother to make note if the mirror was in any of the photos. I was just looking at the photos of his family during that period, and all I could think of was how well-groomed that they looked, despite it being during WW1. It was sometime after that the lettering appeared in the mirror.
I asked my husband if that was a periodical expression of the early 1900's or late 1800's. There were some photos of the family that just pre-dated the first world war which showed a family member in Victorian dress.
Unfortunately, I only highlighted the word rise, as you can clearly see the 'r', but I enhanced the rest of the letters so you can compare it with the original. I took it with my 12mp Kodak camera in the day. It must have been about three pm, or so.
Also, when my husband first brought things back that we had inherited from our friend (He was more like a father to my husband and a father-in-law to me, than just a family friend- he was more family, than friend, and the feeling was mutual. He always said my husband was the son, he wish he could have had-he knew my husband from the age of 14). Anyway, we are doing what we can to preserve his family history, as his blood relatives will only destroy what they don't want. Also, he wanted certain things to be saved from ending up in a skip, or worse. The mirror was one such item.
I am not a professional ghost-hunter due to my disability, but I do have a website on the paranormal, including phenomena that I have captured around me. I have been on a ghost hunt for charity, and would so love to do so again, if somebody would be willing to take me and my mobility scooter along.
I am sensitive to these things, and when the mirror did get hung up on the wall, I felt something really strange. Not in a bad way, but in a positive way.
Let me put it this way, I had my wedding fan hanging underneath the mirror. Prior to that, our friends photo without a frame was hanging underneath the mirror. My fan just would not hang up on the wall, so I have moved the fan, and will be hanging the photo back underneath the mirror in the frame, where I originally had it hanging. It is the least I can do, and I wonder, if it is his ancestors giving me approval with what they wrote on the mirror?

The whole light=good, dark=bad thing probably goes all the way back to our distant ancestors... the night was full of things out to get you and, if you were really unlucky, eat you.
The discovery of how to make fire must have been pretty mind-blowing - now you could light up the night and keep predators away. On the other hand, you also got shadows and who knows what might be lurking in them.
I dont know if anyone has worked nights ? I did for 14 months, and I know from experience that things can get pretty freaky around 2-4 a.m.
Not that I saw ghosts or anything, it was all inside my head... the primitive part of my brain thought I should be safely hidden away in a cave somewhere.
I've heard it said more than once that more people die in the early hours than at any other time. I think that makes a lot of sense.

As a medium i can work day or night.
I simply feel that now it is simply that most places it is easier to work at night when they are closed or it is better for the owner/occupiers.
Just habit really
